School/Group Program Options
For many years the Ontario County Historical society, in Canandaigua, has provided quality programming to the Finger Lakes area students and children's organizations. Programming for 1998-99 is as follows:

 Open Hearth Programs

 Hearth and Home - vegetable stew, Johnny cake/cake, cider.
1234 Cake - a cake from scratch, butter churning.
Pioneer Apples - apples as a staple crop, applesauce and craft (fall)

(All above - students assist and taste the food)

Visit the Green Corn Festival - an Iroquois celebration through puppetry, artifacts, social dance.
The Story of Wool - sheep to coverlet, carding, spin, weave, craft.
19th Century Village Life - 1850s children's chores, schooling amusements, make a journal.
Meet the Museum and Early Canandaigua - Tour, museum jobs/etiquette, artifact guessing.
Canandaigua Walking Tour - Pioneer cemetery, early settlers and trades, gravestone rubbing (spring).
