Roseland Park Revisited

February 25 to December 24, 2000

Gaiety and Frolic are words that describe the atmosphere at this location of wonderment, an early amusement park that was started in 1925 on the lake front in Canandaigua, New York. For sixty years this modest lakeside enterprise catered to the tastes of middle class Americans. Its early offerings included a dance hall and a few rides. As the years passed, free circus style attractions were added. By the time it ceased operations in 1985, this regional attraction offered miniature golf, boat rides on Canandaigua Lake, bingo, a tram and numerous amusement rides including bumper cars and a wooden roller coaster. Young and old alike flocked to Canandaigua each summer to enjoy Roseland Park.

Parents and grandparents came to see their children take their first merry-go-round ride stirring memories of their own childhood.

Now, the Ontario County Historical Society presents Roseland Park Revisited, a photographic exhibit of this famous regional attraction.

The whole family will enjoy this trek into the past. Bring the kids, mom, dad, the whole family for a memorable visit to the Ontario County Historical Society and Museum.
