Western New York is a great place to explore American History. With over a hundred museums large and small, nearly 30 Landmarks designated by the National Register of Historic Places as “Historic” including the site of a Presidential inauguration the region is rich in history. Canandaigua, the county seat of Ontario County is the location of the historic Ontario County Court House, the site of several famous trials including the trial of woman’s rights activist, Susan B. Anthony who, in 1873 was placed on trial for the crime of Illegal Voting. The Trial changed the course of women’s rights in America.
The Ontario County Historical Museum is the perfect place to start your discovery of Western New York history. The museum is accessible to those with mobility issues and it is on the route of Canandaigua’s FREE Spot Hop, the fun and educational way to see Canandaigua’s attractions.
