NEW ACQUISITIONS EXHIBITION - Gifting the Generations
Through December 2007.
T
his exhibition features many wonderful new treasures that have been donated to the Society's ever growing collection since 1995. Artifacts include an 1855 signature quilt given to Margaret Knapp on the occasion of her marriage, a Civil War era personal portable desk, a 1946 wedding gown made out of a World War II parachute and three watercolors by Frederick Crandall, a Canandaigua artist, who gained national fame. A special addition is the journal of L.C. Mix, an artist, who chronicled the battles of the 33rd New York Volunteers during the Civil War. The exhibition helps visitors learn more about what type of items the Ontario County Historical Society collects and how we care for the artifacts which have been entrusted to us for future preservation.
